Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner visits Sciences Po Aix

On Friday 9 September 2022, Sciences Po Aix had the honour of welcoming Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights. After graduating from the School in 1976, he returned to Sciences Po Aix to visit the facilities of the Digital Campus financed by the European Social Fund* and to exchange with Master's students in European Policies and Transnational Action.

The students were able to ask all their questions about European careers, and debate with Nicolas Schmit issues related to European governance, Europe’s social policy, the weight of lobbies and changes in the European political landscape.

L’Europe n’est pas ce monstre froid, technocratique, qui tient uniquement un discours sur la compétitivité. Il y a de plus en plus une orientation sociale. L’Europe ne peut fonctionner et gagner l’adhésion de ses citoyens que si la convergence sociale est renforcée.
