Sciences Po Aix offers, in partnership with the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität of Freiburg-im-Breisgau, a five-year course that offers students alternating education between the two establishments.

Description of the course

The course is offered after the baccalauréat. At the end of their studies, students obtain the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Freiburg on the one hand, and the Sciences Po Aix diploma and the national Master’s degree from Sciences Po Aix on the other. These diplomas benefit from a double national (France-Germany) and international recognition. The organisation of studies integrates the teaching of Sciences Po Aix and the political science of a German university.

The first cycle is a multidisciplinary and generalist training over the first two years where students focus on acquiring the basics of political science in Freiburg in the first year (international relations, comparison of political systems, political theories, methodology and statistics) and then in Aix in the second year (lectures and methodological conferences in law, economics, history, political science, general culture, sociology, modern languages). The third year consists of an internship in thefirst semester and a pre-specialisation (bachelor’s thesis) in the second semester at the University of Freiburg.

The second cycle lasts two years. The4th year is an in-depth study of political science in Freiburg and a continuation of the specialisation. The 5th year takes place in one of the national master’s degrees managed by Sciences Po Aix and allows the completion of the specialisation and the completion of an internship.
