This competition allows winning students to join the Sciences Po Aix / École de l’Air course and obtain, after 3 years, the Sciences Po Aix diploma (equivalent to a master’s degree), a national master’s degree. Geostrategy, defense and international security and to have career officer status.

Admission requirements

Access to the 4th year competition is open to candidates holding a licence or an equivalent qualification at level 6. The number of places offered for the competition by officer corps (air officer – air base officer) is specified by order published in the Journal officiel de la République française. There are conditions of medical aptitude and age: to be 22 years old at the most on January 1st of the year of the competition

Tests

The recruitment is carried out in 2 phases:

Eligibility phase

This consists of the examination and evaluation of the application documents (letter of motivation, CV, academic record, etc.) by the chairman of the selection board, who then assesses them.) by the president of the jury, the personality from the scientific or academic world, the senior officer of the air force and space (AAE), the “aircrew” and “base” advisers formally assess the qualities and skills of the candidates with a view to their admission to one of the three corps; account is taken of the diplomas held, the needs identified by the AAE in each of the officer corps as well as, for each candidate, his or her professional project and the aspirations expressed. Eligibility cannot be carried over from one year to the next.

Admission phase:

Only eligible candidates are allowed to take the admission tests.

The purpose of the interview and general culture test is to assess the personality of the candidate, to assess his level of general culture, his qualities of expression, his faculties of analysis and synthesis, to assess his to be and his degree of motivation to exercise a career as an officer in the AAE. The level of general knowledge is assessed through a subject drawn at random from among two proposed.

The living language test covers a text dealing with social issues chosen at random by the candidate from among two proposed. The candidate has a preparation time. The test breaks down as follows: – reading the text; – translation of a short extract from this text; – analyze the commentary on this text and the elaboration of a problematic; – general questions.

The sporting events are those common to the competitions of the military schools for career cadets, the nature of which, the methods of execution and the scoring scales are fixed by decree of August 30, 2021.
