The Master’s in Cultural Policy and Patronage aims to train executives and leaders of cultural organizations in the development, implementation and evaluation of cultural projects within these structures. The courses are organized by Sciences Po Aix and the diploma is issued under the double seal of Aix-Marseille University and the State.

Description of the course

The course is positioned in the dual sector of cultural policy and the public and private financing of culture. It responds to the new challenges of the professionalisation of culture, the internationalisation of cultural exchanges and the renewed relationships of co-production with private actors (patronage and foundations).

The approach is multidisciplinary and provides students, in the form of innovative teaching methods, with the theoretical and operational analysis tools necessary for the design and implementation of cultural projects.

The course aims to acquire the fundamental knowledge of the history of the arts, literature and ideas in order to evolve in diverse cultural contexts and to grasp the historical and contemporary issues at stake. It emphasises the legal, financial and technical dimensions that are essential to the development of cultural projects. Students acquire the organisational and communication skills needed to set up and present these projects, to obtain funding and to work in partnership with the players in the sector. They are also trained in the digital field.
