Training for Local Elected Officials: A Tailor-Made Program
To support this development, Sciences Po Aix offers elected officials, as part of their right to training, an institutional certificate covering both theoretical knowledge and highly practical approaches to issues encountered in daily practice.
Delivered by lecturers and researchers, magistrates, and senior public administration experts, the program aims to provide participants with the knowledge necessary to exercise their mandate with sound judgment, as well as the tools for understanding that will help them better grasp the current challenges in their territory.
12 themes to better understand the challenges in your territory
Mastery of financial and budgetary issues, in-depth understanding of local government responsibilities, knowledge of the rights and duties arising from their role, as well as the ability to communicate clearly and effectively: the Local Elected Officials Training Certificate addresses these core topics through 12 themes covering the full scope of a locally elected official’s responsibilities.
Delivered by lecturers and researchers, magistrates, and senior public administration experts, the program aims to provide participants with the knowledge necessary to exercise their mandate with sound judgment, as well as the tools for understanding that will help them better grasp the current challenges in their territory.
A full program or a modular, “à la carte” format
The full program leads to the awarding of the Local Elected Officials Training Certificate, an institutional diploma from Sciences Po Aix. To obtain it, participants must attend all training sessions over the year and pass a final oral examination.
An “à la carte” option also allows participants to attend only the modules that interest them, depending on their availability. The modules (or themes) are cumulative, and it is possible to complete and validate the full certificate over a two-year period.
How to apply ?
The program is open to elected officials holding a local mandate. Candidates are selected based on their application file. To apply, download the application form from the certificate admissions page, complete it, and send it along with the required supporting documents.
